The countdown begins: 26 days until I board a train for Portland. There are so many things to be fearful about with this trip. I’ve never been on a train or traveled extensively alone. But that’s what makes this trip so exciting, rejuvenating and necessary. I need time to recollect my thoughts, relax, write, read for fun, explore, hike, and experience the beauty of being okay with solitude. Although I am starting to get nervous about this new adventure, I absolutely cannot wait for the new experience.
My hope is that we continually seek adventure and follow our calling. May we never let fear limit us, for there are too many beautiful things to experience that we may miss if we let fear dictate our lives. Get out and go. Buy that ticket. Change your major. Start that book. Whatever it is, know that you are capable of greatness. You’ve got this.
“I wanna fit in to the perfect space,
feel natural and safe in a volatile place.
And I wanna grow old without the pain,
give my body back to the earth and not complain.”
–The Avett Brothers, The Perfect Space
